Historic Fort Wayne
August 28, 2010 - Fort Miamies 1754-1763 event, Historic Fort Wayne, Indiana

Barb and I like to do demonstrations of woodworking and crafts.  Recently, I demonstrated how windsor chair parts were made using sharp tools.  Barb demonstrated the German paper cutting craft known as Scherenschnitte. We were located at the side of the blacksmith shop.  Some of our work was on display.  Here is the website for the fort: http://www.oldfortwayne.org

Hicksville Elementary School
November 4, 2010. -  Colonial Artisan visits with Second Graders at Hicksville Elementary School, Hicksville, Ohio.

I wore period clothing and demonstrated to second graders how various tools were used by a colonial artisan who made Windsor chairs.   Siting on a shaving horse, I worked red oak stock into chair spindles in front of an interested group of students.  What a joy it is to get kids interested in woodworking tools and making things!
